RE: Wayward kids wandering into campsite

There is a difference between children in camp wanting to play with our kids and people walking through the site. Follow our rules while here and you are welcome to play. You might eave get a snack if you play your cards right. If our kids are not there or you start misbehaving, you must leave. People cutting through are never welcome.

RE: TT why would you want one?

First time I got my wife to camp with me, it was in a tent. The 100 degree heat and then the rain put an end to her tenting days. Now we have heat for the cold March mornings and AC for the hot July days in the TT. When I feel the need to camp in a tent these days, I go with the Boy Scouts.

RE: sofa

Do you need to keep the ability to go from sofa to bed and back? If not, perhaps replace it with a twin bed.

RE: best camping memories

I'm in Memphis now, but grew up in central CA. As a kid, several families all would camp in northern CA in October. It was at a place called Albion south of Fort Bragg. We would take our boat and most of the trip would be spent ocean fishing. I remember spending a lot of time climbing rocks on the beach, a crab that had been caught and was tryin to get away chasing a friend down a boat dock, and getting into a sand fight with my brother 30 minutes before we were supposed to leave. Wouldn't trade a single second of it. I'll have to remember to thank my parents when I see them at their 50th anniverary party this October.

RE: CG Suggestions

Depending on what you are wanting to do, there are several nice campgrounds south of Memphis at the Tunica casinos. I only offer this since you asked about Nashville and Memphis and they are only 3 1/2 hours apart. I'm guessing that you are taking your time.

RE: Pics of new to us camper

It is exactly like ours down to the interior color. We love it. My DW, (2)DD's, and I spent a week in it this past June. The first two days it rained. Tight quarters but we managed. The only problem was the lack of counter space around the bathroom sink for everything three women think they need. We have reached a compromise. I've added a two tier wire shelf and they've agreed to share some things. Good luck with the new purchase.

RE: Topsail Hill in April

June 27 thru July 4, 2009 Site 62 for us.
Not many sites left for those 7 continuous days.
We will have to look you up, we are there June 27th through July 7th, in site 126, my parents are in site 124 for the same time period
I tried to get that loop, but ReserveAmerica showed it booked up for a weeks stay, and it isn't worth it to try to piece together different days in different areas. I'm more of the "set it up and enjoy it right there" type. :D

Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, AL

I have a few questions for those that have stayed at this campground.
It appears that it is necessary for campers to drive to the beach. Is this correct? How close to the beach can you park? Ample parking? Is the new pier finished? Which loop has the roomiest camp sites? It will be myself, DW, and both DD's, 17 and 15.
Thanks for all opinions.

RE: Wives!! Let your husbands accept Help ;)

Last trip out, I put the ball directly under the hitch the first time when hitching up by myself. It took 15 minutes at the campground with my wife's help. Afterwards, I gave her a hug and thanked her for the help. My mamma didn't raise any fools.

RE: the must eat places near topsail in florida?

We at at the Lucky Snapper one evening and Fisherman's Wharf another. Both were good. Fisherman's Wharf will cook the fish you bring, but we didn't do this so I'm not sure how you would know it was yours. We tried to eat at Papano Joe's, but I won't wait 2 hours for anything.

RE: Back from Topsail Hill

Let me add that the staff there is extemely helpful. DW and I got caught by a thunderstorm at the beach Monday morning. It was raining so hard that there were no dry spots on the tram, so the driver insisted that we ride in the cab of the truck with him. When we got back to the rv park tram stop, he sat there and talked with us while we waited for a break in the deluge. He finally flagged down a passing ranger and we got a ride back to our site. Definately above and beyond the call of duty.

Back from Topsail Hill

This was our first trip to Topsail, second total with the TT. Since I was taking it easy to maximize TV mpg, I took hwy 78 out of Mempis to Tupelo, then 45 south. No problems at all. It rained our first day at camp, but then cleared up. Got in a day at the beach and then a day fishing on a party boat out of Destin. After spending 4 nights in the TT with 3 women, (DW and 2 DD), I am racking my brain for additional storage options. I am going to add some kind of narrow rack on the back of the dinette near the door to store sandals so they are not spread across the floor. Silly me, I thought one person would only need one pair of sandals. We're already making plans to go back next summer. DW and I spent time scoping out the other sections (we were in site 7) and have some nice sites picked out. I want to thank everyone that posts on this forum. I've soaked up a lot of good info since joining. I believe that I was able to fool DW into thinking I knew what I was doing! :B
